Bet On Who Will Eat Way Too Much Candy Corn With DraftKings
COVID-19 restrictions may dampen the spirits of Halloween enthusiasts this year by limiting chances for costume parties. However, a new Halloween eating contest by DraftKings could potentially make up for that.
In the event, contestants will confront a six-pound mound of candy.
Not only can Hoosiers watch the event through DraftKings’ app and website, they can also wager on it.

Information on the DraftKings Halloween eating competition
The event is scheduled to happen at the Beer Park in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET. If interested, the event can be viewed on either DraftKings’ Twitch or YouTube channel.
The event will be judged by Major League Eating, the governing body that also operates the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. This is a significant prerequisite for validating the event as a competitive contest.
The competition is structured as a steeplechase, meaning the first participant to finish a six-pound collection of six different candy types will be the winner. The participant list includes some of the most prominent talents from MLE, such as Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo.
DraftKings is set to provide a free-to-play pool with a $10,000 prize for clients in all markets where it runs daily fantasy contests or sports betting.
So far, Indiana is one of only two jurisdictions where fans can legally place bets on the event.
Another option is Colorado. This summer’s hot dog contest could potentially be wagered on by bettors in New Jersey.
It remains uncertain if the skills of hotdog-eating champions like Chestnut and Sudo can be applied to eating candy corn and peanut butter cups. Regardless of who wins, DraftKings will benefit.
Events of similar nature are looming on the horizon.
Not only does this event provide another opportunity for bettors to place their wagers, it also serves as a strong appeal to Hoosiers who might not be attracted to betting on conventional sports events. DraftKings hopes to grow its customer database through this strategy.
DraftKings and Major League Eating announced that they are not only hosting a Halloween event but also a three-part competitive eating series.
The upcoming event is a complete Thanksgiving feast, featuring a roasted turkey, set for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The third episode of the eating series, featuring a Super Bowl party spread, is scheduled for Feb. 6.
Johnny Avello, the chief of sportsbook, anticipates that consumers will be thrilled to interact with alternative sports event options.
Competitive eating has become a staple of American holidays, and we believe this series will captivate fans. The audience has demonstrated a strong interest in engaging with non-traditional sports and alternative content. We are excited about the upcoming triple-header of top-tier competitive eating.
It’s unclear which professional eater will finish the 6-pound bag of candy first, a quantity of candy corn we consider excessive. However, it is certain that DraftKings intends to broaden its services beyond the realm of traditional sports for its customers.
Could hot chicken wings be next, perhaps?
