Pacers Picks, Cunningham Odds, And What To Know About The NBA Draft

The NBA Draft is a chance for teams to change their futures. For the Indiana Pacers, that change could be a necessary one.

The team just missed the postseason for only the second time since 2010.

On the bright side, Indiana’s lackluster season has them picking in the lottery of this year’s draft.

ESPN will be broadcasting all of the draft action on July 29 at 8 p.m.

Pacers snag rare draft lottery pick

Missing out on the postseason was a tough pill to swallow for Pacers fans, but it does come with its benefits.

The Pacers almost always make the NBA Playoffs, even if the team isn’t a high seed. Because of that, it’s very rare for Indiana to have a high draft pick.

The team has the 13th overall pick in this year’s draft. That isn’t exactly home-run territory like the top five, but it’s still an improvement over the team’s usual draft position.

This is only the 11th time in franchise history that the Pacers are picking in the lottery.

Their last two lottery picks were in 2015 and 2010. The team picked up Myles Turner and Paul George with those picks, so fans will be hoping for a similar level of success this time around.

So which players could the Pacers end up taking? Sportsbooks certainly have some thoughts.

You can bet on the over/under of a prospect’s draft position using DraftKings Sportsbook.

Two names for Pacers fans to keep an eye on are Jalen Johnson (O/U 14.5) and Corey Kispert (O/U 13.5). Since the Pacers have the 13th pick, both players could end up right in Indiana’s crosshairs.

Cade Cunningham NBA Draft odds

There are all sorts of draft betting options out there for gamblers. There’s something out there for everyone, regardless of whether you’re betting on the Pacers or any other team.

It’ll come as no surprise to basketball fans, but Cade Cunningham is the overwhelming favorite to become the first overall pick.

Here’s a quick look at the latest odds from William Hill Indiana:

  • Cade Cunningham: -8,000
  • Jalen Green: +1,500
  • Evan Mobley: +2,200
  • Jalen Suggs: +2,500
  • Jonathan Kuminga: +4,500

Cunningham at one is seemingly the only pick that sportsbooks can agree on. Some betting apps have players like Green as low as pick seven, or as high as pick two.

There’s a lot of variance, which just goes to show that this isn’t an exact science.

If you feel strongly about a certain player’s draft position, then it’s worth shopping around a bit at Indiana’s legal online sportsbooks. A little searching could help you find a better value for your player of choice.

NBA Draft prop bets

When it comes to the NBA Draft, there are all sorts of betting options out there outside of wagering on the top pick.

You can bet on each of the top five picks individually, or you can dive a little deeper.

Betting on the exact order of the top three picks is available with the FanDuel app. Cunningham, Green, and then Mobley in that order is the -155 favorite.

Head-to-head matchups for players are also on the board for betting.

For example, you wager on whether Alperen Sengun or Jalen Johnson will be drafted first. Sengun is the -155 favorite for that matchup.

Most sportsbooks have something unique to offer.

Barstool Sportsbook, for example, will let you bet on how many non-NCAA players will be drafted this year.

Prospects that played internationally or in the NBA G League are some possibilities for that bet, although Barstool isn’t expecting more than a few of those players to make the cut this year. The over/under total for that wager is set at 2.5.

Basketball fans will have to make the most out of this year’s draft. Outside of betting on Olympic basketball, there won’t be a ton of hoops options left until later this fall.
