PointsBet Sportsbook Offering Colts Spread Booster For The Team’s First Game

PointsBet aims to draw in Indiana patrons through its new Colts promotion.

As the NFL season is set to start next week, every online betting app in Indiana is searching for some sort of edge.

PointsBet is hoping to profit, given that the NFL is the most popular betting sport in the US.

Colts Crowd Booster

On Sept. 13, the Colts will begin their season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

PointsBet’s Crowd Booster promotion is returning with full vigor for Indy’s first game.

The sportsbook has utilized the promotion several times before, and it’s invariably a massive success.

The Crowd Booster is quite straightforward.

The spread shifts a point in everyone’s favor for every 200 bettors who choose the Colts.

The Colts began as -7 favorites against the Jags. Currently, the spread has risen to +7 and it's expected to keep increasing until the game starts.

When these crowd boosters shut down, the spreads usually become so outrageous that it’s essentially free money for everyone who participated.

Crowd Boosters function identically to FanDuel's Spread the Love promotions. Thus, if you’ve ever wagered on any of FanDuel's spread boosters, you’ll be familiar with the structure.

Last December, FanDuel held a Spread the Love promotion in which gamblers were offered an incredible +51 for the Colts when everything was settled.

It’s uncertain whether PointsBet’s current booster will surpass previous records, but they are aiming to beat the +51 spread booster record for the Colts, which is the highest record on the sportsbook.

The basic idea is to draw in as many new customers as possible.

Certainly, distributing free cash is one method to encourage people to use a sportsbook.

Nonetheless, running promos like these can be costly. Fortunately for PointsBet, NBC just gave them a cash injection of $500 million.

Colts hoping to improve

With Philip Rivers now serving as the starting quarterback, the Colts aim to better their previous year’s record of 7-9.

The team didn’t make it to the playoffs last season and is eager to experience some postseason play this time.

Despite Rivers being an older player, he could still potentially deliver for the team this season.

Nevertheless, if Rivers has a shaky beginning, Indy still has the option of using Jacoby Brissett as a backup quarterback.

This season already has an advantage over the previous one because the team’s star quarterback won’t be retiring unexpectedly this year.

This year’s NFL Draft saw a strong performance from the Colts that will bolster the team for the upcoming season. Key additions to the Indy team included receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and running back Jonathan Taylor, among others.

As Indiana enters its first complete NFL season with a mature sports betting market, a record number of Hoosiers are expected to place bets on football this fall.

Sports betting was introduced in Indiana during last year’s season, thus attracting fewer fans as it was still new in the state.

PointsBet is aspiring to convert those fans into clients.

This Crowd Booster is PointsBet’s strategy to stand out amidst the intense competition among the state’s sportsbooks.
