Powerball Adds Extra Weekly Drawing Starting In August

Later this year, a third weekly drawing will be added to Powerball.

Beginning August 23, you will have a weekly opportunity to win a life-altering jackpot.

In addition to the existing pulls every Wednesday and Saturday, the new drawings will now also occur on Mondays.

Lucky Indiana Powerball history

Indiana boasts a fortunate history in terms of Powerball victories.

Indiana residents, also known as Hoosiers, hold the record for the most Powerball jackpots won with 39 victories, more than any other state. The state in second place is Missouri, with 31 jackpot wins.

With the Powerball shifting to three drawings per week, Hoosiers now have even more opportunities to increase their number to 40.

The “Powerball Double Play” will also be debuting in Indiana in August, along with the new drawing.

A Double Play ticket will be $1 more expensive than your typical Powerball ticket.

The Hoosier Lottery is introducing the game to provide gamblers with another opportunity to win some money.

As implied by its name, a Double Play ticket enters your numbers into two separate Powerball drawings.

The initial drawing is for the regular jackpot, while the subsequent one is for a lesser pool of $10 million.

Hoosier Lottery experiences record-breaking year

Indiana hosts numerous lottery games, yet scratch-offs remain the state’s most favored.

In May, the State Lottery Commission provided an update on sales, indicating that the Hoosier Lottery was poised for a record-breaking year.

Sales of scratch-off tickets were at the forefront with a 27% increase year-over-year. Meanwhile, Powerball and Mega Millions sales also saw a 19% rise.

Thanks to a boost from the pandemic, the 2021 fiscal year is anticipated to be larger than ever. Indiana’s casinos shut down and online sports betting was suspended when society closed down due to the coronavirus.

The revenue boost in Indiana wasn’t unexpected, as lottery tickets became the only remaining gambling option.

The yearly revenue report will be available shortly.

The 2021 fiscal year of the Hoosier Lottery just concluded at the end of June.

The annual report on the state of affairs in Indiana will soon be released by the lottery commission.

The report will reveal which lottery games performed the best in the previous year. Further details about the revenue figures for games such as Powerball will also be included.

Although the Hoosier Lottery experienced a significant increase in revenue last year, it does not anticipate this trend to persist in the new fiscal year. The organization is actually preparing for an 8% decrease in sales over the next 12 months.

While it’s impossible to predict the future with certainty, the 2021 annual report will provide a reference point for the lottery to use.
