Looks Like Barstool Sportsbook Won’t Be Indiana’s Next Betting App

Fans of Barstool Sportsbook will have to patiently wait a bit more for the launch of the app in Indiana.

There was a degree of optimism that Barstool might have emerged as the 10th online sportsbook in the state.

However, it appears that William Hill has outpaced the company to the market, putting Barstool a few places behind in the queue.

888Sport outpaces Barstool in Indiana

888Sport revealed plans earlier this week to launch in Indiana in 2021.

888 is poised to outpace Barstool in entering the Indiana market unless unexpected delays occur. This is due to the fact that the company is currently further along in the launch process than Barstool.

Before launching in the state, online sportsbooks must find a retail casino partner.

888 has already established a partnership with Harrah’s Hoosier Park, while Barstool has yet to finalize a partnership.

Nonetheless, we are already aware of the potential casinos Barstool may partner with.

Penn National Gaming, the owner of a significant portion of Barstool, is set to partner the sportsbook with one of its casinos. In Indiana, this could mean a partnership with either Ameristar East Chicago or Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg.

The progress of 888’s launch will surpass Barstool’s until the latter formalizes its casino partnership.

Although 888 may currently be leading, don’t anticipate its launch to occur on January 1, 2021.

The sportsbook still needs to secure its temporary vendor license, a mandatory initial step in a series of regulatory procedures it must adhere to before it can commence accepting bets.

The launch of BetIndiana could outperform Barstool.

Only BetIndiana has the chance to outpace both 888 and Barstool in reaching the Indiana market.

Almost a year has passed since the sportsbook obtained its vendor license, hence the company’s launch has been much anticipated.

It’s been an unusually long wait for BetIndiana to open for business, as sportsbooks typically start operating within a few months of obtaining their license.

The company received its license on Jan. 13, however, its launch continues to be postponed due to a series of COVID-19-related setbacks.

As a small company, BetIndiana doesn’t have the same level of resources as larger companies such as DraftKings or FanDuel to invest in the launch process.

The sportsbook could potentially launch its online platform in Indiana this week, as far as we know. Conversely, it might require a few more months to commence operations.

At this point, anything could happen, after being in limbo for nearly a year.

BetIndiana and 888 are likely to reach the market before Barstool. However, the uncertainty remains as to when Barstool will actually make its debut in Indiana.

Barstool Sportsbook Indiana 2021

We know that Barstool Sportsbook will officially arrive in Indiana sometime in 2021, though it may take a while.

So what’s causing the delay? It boils down to the company’s priorities.

Currently, Barstool intends to launch in all states where sports betting is legal by the end of the following year.

In other words, Indiana may not be the company’s top priority.

We are aware that the sportsbook will launch in Michigan next, but the subsequent plans remain uncertain.

At present, the betting app can only be accessed in Pennsylvania.

Barstool fans in Indiana will be eagerly awaiting the sportsbook’s launch until the company releases a new update.
