Unibet Sportsbook Will Launch In Indiana On July 30

At last, Unibet Sportsbook is launching in Indiana.

The eighth online sportsbook in the Hoosier State is set to launch digitally on July 30. This marks the debut of the first new sports betting app in Indiana since the launch of Caesars Sportsbook in May.

A launch that has been in preparation for months

Unibet has been preparing to launch in Indiana for several months. They successfully obtained their temporary vendor license in May, marking the initial phase of their Indiana launch. Since then, they have been diligently working to be fully prepared for the official launch.

The Unibet sportsbook has been cleared to launch in Indiana by the Indiana Gaming Commission as of July 28, with no further obstacles in its way.

The company, while headquartered in Europe, still boasts extensive experience with US gamblers.

After New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Indiana will be the third state in the US where Unibet will be available.

Unibet is engaged in the online casino sector in both of those other states. While online casinos are currently not permitted in Indiana, the company will undoubtedly aim to enter this market if it ever becomes legal in the Hoosier State.

Horseshoe Hammond forms partnership with Unibet

Caesars Entertainment is providing Unibet with its market access.

The sportsbook is in partnership with Horseshoe Hammond Casino, a property owned and operated by Caesars. Despite Caesars not being involved in Unibet’s operations, the sportsbook still required their assistance.

Indiana law prohibits independent online betting websites. They must be connected to a physical casino. By partnering with Caesars, Unibet ensures its sportsbook meets this legal requirement.

Caesars’ betting app has already partnered with Horseshoe Hammond, making Unibet the newcomer. Although Unibet is currently collaborating with Caesars, their partnership might be coming to an end soon.

Caesars has recently completed its colossal merger with Eldorado, but it was not without conditions. The Indiana Gaming Commission has mandated that Caesars must divest three of its Indiana-based casinos. The company has identified Horseshoe Hammond as one of the three to be sold.

Unibet will only be near Caesars until December 31, 2020, as the company has until then to sell each property.

Could Indiana have a summer of sportsbooks?

This summer, Unibet is likely not the only betting site that will launch in Indiana.

For instance, theScore Bet is also on the verge of launching. The sportsbook secured its temporary license in May and overcame another significant launch obstacle just a few weeks ago.

Besides meeting Indiana’s legal requirements to go online, theScore Bet has also been actively negotiating new contracts with major sports leagues. This will position the company advantageously to immediately compete upon its launch.

Nonetheless, theScore Bet might not be the only one, as William Hill and BetIndiana could also be launching in the upcoming weeks.

BetIndiana has formed a partnership with Majestic Star Casino for its terrestrial requirements. Although it gained a temporary license in January, it has yet to enter the market.

William Hill had been on the pipeline for an extended period, even before receiving its licensing on August 13, 2019, as a partner of Tropicana Evansville. This was shortly after major players, DraftKings and FanDuel, obtained their licenses.

It’s reasonable for BetIndiana to require additional time, as it is significantly smaller than William Hill. However, it’s peculiar that William Hill is not present in Indiana’s market.

Regardless, both are due for their launches in Indiana. Hoosiers could have a range of new betting apps, such as theScore Bet, BetIndiana, and William Hill, to choose from by the end of the summer.
